Christy

Christy was a painfully shy, nerd growing up, who hated P.E. In self-defense she started training in Shotokan Karate at age 15. It was a way of increasing her self-confidence but also happened to be a great workout. She has continued her martial arts training to this day, in the traditional art of Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu. And even expanded her knowledge base to include a certification in Seifukujitsu (Deep Tissue Restoration Therapy) to better understand how bodies work. Her first real fitness love came when she tried Jazzercise. Dancing to music as exercise, it was a perfect match. She was certified as a Franchised Jazzercise instructor in 1992 and has been in the fitness industry teaching ever since. She continued expanding her fitness career by becoming a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through AFAA, but also wanted to help others in a one-on-one way. She received her Personal Trainer certification through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine). Her fitness journey has followed many paths; from teaching Pole Fitness, to a group exercise certification with KettleBell Concepts. She is licensed to teach Zumba and TRX Suspension training and completed a TRX® Training for Active Seniors course. Born and raised in Reno, she is a local through and through, including graduating from UNR with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
